Author guidelines
Depth of Field is a peer-reviewed journal, published in English and focuses on the publication of scientific articles about the history and theory of photography and media culture in The Netherlands and Belgium, within an international context.
Depth of Field is open to contributions of academic level, irrespective of the employment and nationality of the authors. The editorial team will be responsible in the first line for the assessment of the relevance of the papers. External peers will assess the papers offered on their scientific merits, before they are accepted for publication. To preserve anonymity, the manuscript will contain no clues to the author’s identity or institutional affiliation.
The text must be submitted in Dutch or in English. The text will either be translated into English or corrected by a translator. Please ensure that the author’s name does not appear anywhere other than in the accompanying e-mail. Submission of an article is taken to imply that it has not been previously published internationally, and has not been submitted for publication elsewhere. The author stays the owner of the copyright on his own work.
The editors reserve the right to edit the texts received. Any substantial changes will be made in consultation with the author. Once accepted for publication, the author must agree to undertake any necessary revisions and to deliver a final copy to the editor by a mutually agreed date.
